Bar Code Interleaved 2 of 5 |
|
Interleaved 2 of 5 is a numeric-only symbology. The "interleaved" refers to the fact that two
characters can be represented in the same space by using the black bars to represent the first
character and the white spaces to represent the second character. This means, of course, that an
even number of digits are always required for Interleaved 2 of 5. When an odd number of digits needs to be represented, a leading zero or “null” character is usually added to account for this lack of parity. A
density of 22.0 cpi may be achieved but it is important
that this
dense code be checked for
compatibility with
the
scanner to be used.
Applications For Interleaved 2 of 5:
- Warehousing and heavy-industry for product and container identification
- If an alpha indicator or special digit is required in the application this code should be avoided
- Automotive
